Welcome
Santon Downham is a lovely spot in
the heart of Thetford Forest in Suffolk.
We've
bought the domain www.santondownham.org
as a resource for people who live in or simply love the village. We've
just started to build the site in February 2004, and it will probably
change in structure and appearance in the coming weeks. We are happy to include
events, pictures, articles and so on - contact
us if you have anything you would like adding.
The village now has the splendid new Santon Downham
Centre, adjoining the Breckland Club. The Centre was built to replace the
Village Hall and opened in 2004. It has its own website -
www.santondownhamcentre.co.uk - which gives details of facilities for
hire and events taking place. You can take a look inside the Centre through
one of our 360 degree photographs.
So
far, this website mainly contains information from the 22 villages local history
millennium project, sponsored by Forest Heath District Council. This
project led to a book and a website. The
22 villages website may still be online,
but we have republished Santon Downham's content here and will be adding
new material. Please note that some web pages drawn from the original 22
villages site may be out of date as they were written several years ago -
though most relate to village history.

Note on
copyright: Photos and articles on
this site come from a variety of sources. If you wish to republish any of
the material, please let us
know and we will try to put you in touch with the copyright holder.
The photos on the site are of too low a resolution for printing - we may
also be able to arrange for you to be supplied with higher resolution
copies for printing for your own use.
