Derek and Jan Toomer from Santon Downham explored Namibia on a birdwatching-holiday in 2013. They were not the first visitors from Santon Downham to Southern Africa, another 19th century explorer features on one of the headstones in the graveyard for a local victorian explorer.

The Burial Records from 1813-2000 form a facinating slice of Santon Downham history.  For those of us who live in the village they offer an opportunity to consider those who lived (and died) in our houses before us.
